By offering this supportive environment we hope to encourage the artists to explore their contemporary creative practice; a place where they can feel free to break the artistic 'rules'. We would like applicants to have some starting idea for the residency but appreciate that this may take them in a different direction. We believe this is something to be supported and encouraged. We will keep subscribers informed of future applications for residencies. We are an actively inclusive, community-focused, equal opportunity organisation, which means we’re open to all genders, races, backgrounds and orientations.
We are interested in developing partnerships in many different areas, to both: deliver a better, more fullfilling residency to artists; and extend reach & network into a broader range of communities for a bigger pool of creative talent / disciplines. We are already in close partnership with Eden Arts, who have been invaluable in their help; providing advice & direction to help us develop the residency, and have connected us with their amazing community of artists. If you think you or your organisation aligns with our goals and would like to collaborate or contribute, contact sarah@karekarehouse.co.nz.
